The composition of the major gas compononents do not often change significantly from landfill to landfill, methane will usually make up about 45-50 percent, carbon dioxide around 43-47 percent. The trace gases, do however vary between landfills. Gas composition may change due to the weathers affect on the bacteria producing the gases in the landfill, but there are no significant changes.

Biothane also holds the license for the Biopuric Process, where sulfur oxidizing microorganisms metabolize hydrogen sulfide into elemental sulfur and sulfuric acid. |
Biothane's Sulfur Removal System (Sulfothane) Sulfide is stripped from the wastewater stream by recirculating biogas
-
Stripped Sulfide in the gas stream (and biogas) is catalytically oxidized to elemental Sulfur
-
The catalyst is regenerated by air
-
Sulfur is removed by sedimentation
Both of Biothane's sulfur removal systems can be found at: http://www.biothane.com/default.aspx?sel=7
